Announcement of the 2006 CBETA Latest Releasing

Happy New Year to all the Dharma Friends, and wishing you a fruitful and peaceful year of the Dog!

It is our honor to announce that The Chinese Buddhist Electronic Text Association (CBETA) presents the latest version of its Electronic Tripitaka in celebration of the eighth anniversary of its founding on February 18, 2006.

The major achievement of this new CBETA CD-ROM is the integration of the text-critical notes of the Taisho Tripitaka, with the release of Shinsan Zokuzokyo ( Xuzangjing) Vol. 54-88 (also known as the Supplement to the Manji Canon), in using the Text Encoding Initiative's newest TEI P5 XML based markup version will be released on net at the same day.

Plus the above results, the CBETA website will be updated, too. It contents Taisho Tripitaka Vol. 1-55 & 85, Xuzangjing Vol. 54-88 and the recent releasing of Vol. 1-5,7-10 Xuzangjing . All together there are 100 volumes and more then one hundred million words of the Buddhist Sutras.

The rest of Xuzangjing Vol. 11-53 will be released successively since February to the end of 2006. Please check our website at http://www.cbeta.org for the newest information. As always, thank you for your support of the CBETA, and your valuable comments will be appreciated.

Again, sincerely thanks to those who made it possible to produce the electronic version.

Yours in the Dharma,

Bhikkhu Huimin
